The mission of Nine Line Foundation is to greatly improve and enhance the quality of life of some of our nation’s most severely wounded veterans. To date, we have accomplished this mission by building custom homes for multiple amputee veteran families, and by providing a helping hand in many other areas when needed. Recognizing that our homeless aveterans are among those forgotten, and acknowledging our responsibility to lend a “helping hand”, our current initiatives are building veterans’ villages for currently homeless veterans AND providing aquaponics training, so that, while the veteran is enrolled in our program, they not only have a place to live and heal – mentally, physically and emotionally, but are given a healing environment in which to do so, and learn valuable skills that they can translate into whatever aspect of life they choose to pursue. In short, we provide a “hand up” to help these wounded veterans heal and re-engage in society.
Believing that hope grows outdoors, the vision of Mission Outdoors is to get our Nations Hero's outdoors and help them connect and discover the immense value of their lives - showing them that there is hope. It’s about helping them see that it’s not all about what they’re dealing with today, but about looking forward to tomorrow.
One of Mission Outdoors’ biggest events of the year is the annual Washington Tuna Classic, held each August in the beautiful coastal town of Westport, Washington. During this event, veterans are treated to an amazing life-changing day of tuna fishing. Last year, Mission Outdoors expanded their outreach by canning the tuna, so that it could be distributed to those in need. Each can of tuna represents HOPE for those most in need.
Recognizing that we have the same mission of helping those in need, Mission Outdoors reached out to the Nine Line Foundation. Both non-profits seek to heal and help our wounded veterans move forward. The goal of our partnership is to raise enough money through the sale of these apparel items to pay to have the sushi grade albacore tuna canned and shipped out to help feed those in need. In this way, the tournament truly becomes a “win-win situation” – the veterans participating in the fishing tournament not only have a fantastic and healing experience, but their “catch” pays it forward to help other veterans and those in need … providing hope – “one can at a time”.
ALL proceeds from the sale of these special edition shirts will go to the project. Nine Line Apparel is proud to be able to help Nine Line Foundation and Mission Outdoors in this endeavor and is also offering a one-time use 20% off coupon for all non-sale items available on the Nine Line Apparel site as well.
