Brave, heroic, valiant, dauntless. intrepid and the list goes on. We live in a place where we are free because of the brave. In this luxury we call freedom many fail to acknowledge where this freedom was hatched. Two world wars, Korea, Guadalcanal, Chosen, Vietnam, Gulf Wars and the list goes on and on claiming the lives of young men and women. Brave has many meanings! A father comes home from war in a box draped with our nation's flag. He is received by his widow and his children, his mother and father, and his brothers and sisters. When they are layed to rest in the family plot, the flag is folded and presented to the young widow and taps is sounded and the rifle squad fires 3 volleys breaking the silence of the occasion. Those who have received their nation's colors as a token of gratitude for their loved one's bravery and honorable service understand how brave translates in the real world. For me it is Panel 48 West Line 40

We need to get back to understanding, adopting, and completely embracing the ethics, morality, and patriotism of that past Greatest Generation. My father fought at the Battle of the Bulge and other European theatre battles, while my father-in-law was at the invasion of Iwo Jima in the Pacific Theater. My various uncles served in the Navy line, Navy Seabees and Air Force. I served as an officer in the Navy's deterrent nuclear submarine force.
Let's honor this country and what it was originally designed to stand for!
