Heroes Weekend: Giving Back to Veterans
Supporting our nation's veterans has always been at the heart of the Nine Line Foundation's mission. In September 2023, that mission brought our community together once again for Heroes Weekend, two days dedicated to camaraderie, remembrance, and giving back to those who served.
The weekend began with the Patriots Golf Tournament at the Club at Savannah Harbor. Veterans, supporters, community members, and partners came together on the course for a day centered around a shared commitment to supporting the veteran community.
The following morning, Heroes Weekend continued with the 10th Annual Run for the Wounded at Historic Berwick Plantation in Savannah.
With 5K, 10K, and 10-mile race options, the event gave runners of different experience levels an opportunity to participate. But crossing the finish line was never the most important part of the day. The Run for the Wounded was created to bring people together around a greater purpose: recognizing the sacrifices made by our nation's veterans and supporting the work that continues long after their military service ends.
Together, the Patriots Golf Tournament and Run for the Wounded represented what Heroes Weekend has always been about.
It's an opportunity for a community to show up.
Events like these help the Nine Line Foundation continue its work supporting veterans while giving the people who believe in that mission a chance to be part of it. Whether someone participated on the golf course, ran a race, volunteered, sponsored the event, or simply came out to show their support, each played a role in making the weekend possible.
For us, supporting veterans isn't something reserved for a single event or weekend. It's an ongoing commitment to the men and women who served, the challenges they may face after returning home, and the communities that can help ensure they aren't facing those challenges alone.
We're grateful to everyone who came together for the 2023 Heroes Weekend and helped carry that mission forward.
Because when a community shows up for its veterans, every step matters.
